Series of programmes to commemorate Sambuddhatva Jayanthi

A series of programmes has been organized countrywide to commemorate the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jyanthiya.

100 Buddhist monks of the Kundasala area in Kandy joined in a Pindapatha programme. Its aim was to popularize the Buddhist philosophy and policies among the younger generation.

A series of programme will be held to assist 100 Vihares in remote areas. The organizer is the National Sangha Federation.

Several commemorative programmes including a Pinkama to offer alms to 2600 Buddhist Monks will be held tomorrow. This was disclosed at a media conference held under the patronage of the Ven. Dr. Bodaagama Thera. The opening of the two-storeyed Auditorium of the International Buddhist University is also scheduled for tomorrow.

The Ministry of Coconut Development will plant coconut saplings at 2600 temples. The intention is to at least plant 2600 saplings. These details were unfolded at a media briefing. It as patronized by Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath.
