Army Commander Lt. General Jagath Jayasuriya has said that the Darusman report is fundamentally flawed and biased.
The Army Commander said that he had gone through the entire report. He pointed out that the Report had been compiled based on submissions made by some groups and individuals but the information has not been substantiated with evidence. He noted that the motive behind the release of this report is clear. It is to tarnish the image of the Army, the President and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. He added that the Army will however continue to support the President and the Defence Secretary and bring credit to the country.
The Army Chief was speaking during a visit to the East. Recalling that he was serving as the Ground Commander and was totally aware of the incidents that took place during the final stages of the humanitarian operation, he pointed out that he strongly rejected the contents of the dossier.
