Gov. Nikki Haley and her husband, Michael, earned $156,368 in 2010, according to copies of tax returns Haley allowed reporters to review.
That was down from almost $200,000 in 2009, largely because Haley left her $110,000-a-year job with Lexington Medical Center midway through the year as she campaigned for governor.
The couple reported income from four sources:
-- Nikki Haley's legislative salary of $21,009
-- Her salary and severance of $66,574 from Lexington Medical
-- Michael Haley's S.C. National Guard salary of $62,151 as a human resources officer
-- His S.C. National Guard pay of $6,634.
The coupled, who paid more than $4,000 in late fees and penalties between 2004 and 2009, filed their taxes on April 13, before this year's tax-filing deadline. At the time, the governor's office said Haley would allow the media to review her tax return at a later date.
