With the facelift given to the Colombo City the preparation of a suitable lighting network was unveiled from near the premises of the Colombo Municipal Council. The Korean Iron LED Company has introduced this network. The life span of a bulb which consumes the minimum power is 10 years. A notable feature of this system is that the light can be maintained at an equal level throughout the highway according to international standards.

The economic savings which would result in the Western Province alone through this project is about three billion rupees. The clear light will enable to minimize accidents while it is believed that the new lighting system will lead to environmental conservation in the tourist and business sectors within the City.
