More than 6640 million rupees has been allocated for the development of the Battiocaloa District.
The funds will be utilized for the launch of new development projects as well as to expedite the work on the projects that are already being implemented. Many projects are in progress for the building of houses of the resettled and improve infrastructure and sanitary facilities. The Government’s target of improving the Batticaloa District to upgrading water, electricity and highways facilities had been successful. Schools, hospitals and Government offices are also being developed. Special attention has been diverted to the “Kapruka Diviya” and “Divi Neguma” domestic Economic Units Programmes. The work is being carried out under the guidance of the Economic Development Ministry.
These details surfaced at a meeting in Batticaloa. It reviewed the progress of the development work. Deputy Ministers Vinayagamurthy Muralitharan and M.L.A.M. Hisbullah, Eastern Province chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan and several TNA Parliamentarians were present at this meeting.
