Media Secretary W.B. Ganegala has pointed out that the Journalists enjoy full freedom to take a path for the protection of culture and the development of the country. It is his obligation and responsibility.

Mr. Ganegala said that priority should be given to the identity of the country by journalists. Journalists should use the most advanced technology in the world. However he pointed out that these should be undertaken with clear awareness of limitations. This, he added, would enable to fulfill the duties towards the public to the optimum.

Mr. Ganegala was addressing a function organized to mark the 12th Anniversary of the Media Unit of Isipathana College, Colombo. The purpose of holding this function was to create a vision and reawakening of the media within school children. This year’s Media Day commemoration was held in the Jetliner Vessel. Harsha Dananjaya Peiris, an Assistant Manager of the ITN News Division delivered an address on the “Mass Media Tomorrow”. The Principal of Isipathana College, the staff, past pupils and school children representing every province including the North and the East were present.
