Jaya Pirith to bless the people and the country

Members of the Maha Sangha have called on the nation to unite to protect the country without permitting alien forces to disrupt peace achieved with dedication. The Maha Sangha made this appeal at the Jaya Pirith chanting held to bless the country.

The Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma thera in his Anusasana said that the country was free of terrorism due to the dynamic leadership of the President. He said the country is treading the path of development and the objective of the Pirith chanting ceremony was to invoke blessings on the President and all countrymen.

The Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri thera, Anu Nayaka of the Malwatta chapter in his Anusasana pointed out that the President deserves credit for eliminating terrorism in the country. The Jaya Pirith chanting was held throughout last night at the BMICH premises with the participation of more than 2600 Buddhist Monks. The Pirith chanting to invoke blessings on the war heroes, the country and the people was organized by the Defence Ministry for the fourth occasion. President Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa were present. The Pinkama drew to an end with the offering of alms to the Maha Sangha. ITN made arrangements to telecast live the Pirith chanting.
