South Carolina's fastest-growing city is beginning work on redrawing its council districts to reflect changes revealed by the 2010 U.S. Census.
Charleston holds five public forums this week - the first on Monday - so people can discuss district boundaries for council members.
Charleston is South Carolina's second-largest city with about 120,000 residents. The population increased by more than 23,000 during the past decade, more than any other town or city in the state.
Columbia is the state's largest city with about 129,000 people.
