Hakeem: Govt. Looking Into Delay In Taking Legal Action

May 16, 2011 12:02:02 PM - thesundayleader.lk

Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem has said the government was looking into the delay in taking legal action against former LTTE members, two years after the war has ended.

Speaking during a Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) meeting held in Vavuniya, Hakeem has said several committees have been appointed to find out the reasons for the inability of authorities to take legal action against LTTE members.

According to the Minister, there are various reasons for the delay and they are not completely the fault of the government.

Meanwhile, Hakeem has told the local media that there are some 6,000 former LTTE members in detention camps.
