Olympic Committee 2018 has said that the development of Hambantota to host the Commonwealth Games in 2018 would be primarily covered by foreign investors and the private sector in the country.
The Committee had made this statement in response to the questions raised on the eligibility of Sri Lanka to host the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
The Committee’s CEO, Nalin Attygalle has told the local media today that Sri Lanka should be given the opportunity to host the games as the country was eligible to host it.
He has said that some private sector firms are already involved in the organizing process.
According to Attygalle, Hambantota was qualified to host the games than any other part of the country as it had the necessary infrastructure already in place.
