The 15-year-old student being tried as an adult on charges of wounding an Horry County school police officer and bringing pipe bombs to Socastee High last September could go on trial as early as this summer.
The teen's attorney says a judge decided Wednesday his client will be tried in either August or September of this year.
A judge in March opted to try the teen as an adult on attempted murder and weapons charges. During a hearing over that decision, a psychologist testified that the teen idolizes other school shooters.
The defense had argued that the teen should be tried in Family Court, where penalties are less severe, because had been bullied by classmates and needs mental health treatment.
The teen could face 30 years in prison if convicted.
