President Mahinda Rajapaksa has today met with TMVP leader and Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan at Temple Trees.
A group of 20 TMVP members had met with President and said the party was willing to cooperate with the investigations being carried on the recent killings that have taken place in Batticaloa.
However, the TMVP members have expressed their displeasure at the manner in which the investigations are being carried out.
They have condemned the searching of the Chief Minister’s office and residence.
The President meanwhile had said that the detained TMVP members would be released if there are no charges against them.
IGP Mahinda Balasuriya, Ministers Basil Rajapaksa and Susil Premjayantha had also attended the meeting.
