The Ranaviru Month has already been declared. It is effective from today.

Weerasinghe who had been honoured with the Veera Prathapa National Award and the Ranawickrema Medal and the daughter of Staff Sergeant Mallika Jayawardena of the Army First Women’s Force pinned the Ranaviru Flag to the President. A sum of 3.5 million rupees was collected by the sale of the Ranviru Flag last year. Provincial Governors handed it over to the President. The income will be channeled for the welfare of the war heroes through the Rana Viru Seva Authority.

The Ranaviru Flags for this year were handed over to the Governors. Many Parliamentarians, President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Chiefs of the Armed Forces were present.
