The federal court hearing for former Columbia City Councilman E.W. Cromartie has been postponed for the second time.
Cromartie is scheduled to appear in federal court at 11 a.m. April 26 where U.S. District Judge David Norton is expected to sign off on an agreement between Cromartie and federal prosecutors.
The former councilman has agreed to plead guilty to tax evasion and a charge of dividing payment checks into smaller deposits to avoid federal reporting requirements.
As part of the deal, Cromartie is expected to serve a year in prison. He already resigned his City Council seat and has had his law license suspended because of the charges.
