The Commission which investigates bribery or corruption allegations commences operations, putting a halt to such activities.
The President has appointed new members to the Bribery or Corruption Allegation Investigations Commission with the approval of the Parliamentary Council. Members of the Commission have already assumed office. It is headed by retired Supreme Court Judge D.J. De S. Balapatabendi. The other members are retired Appeals Court Judge L.K. Wimalachandra and former IGP Jayantha Wickremaratne. Investigations will be carried out into new complaints and the Commission is prepared to conduct raids countrywide. The public are afforded an opportunity to make complaints to the Commission round the clock.
