The United Nations has once again stressed that investigations cannot be conducted into the alleged incidents in Sri Lanka based on the Darusman Report.
Addressing the routine media briefing at the UN Headquarters in New York, Martin Neserki spokesman of the UN Secretary General expressed these views. He said that the UN Secretary General is unable to carryout an investigation into the alleged incidents in Sri Lanka unless authority is granted by Sri Lanka. He said that otherwise a call has to be made by an international organization in the absence of such authority. He said that this is the procedure adopted on such occasions. He assumed that without adhering to such measures the Secretary General is unable to conduct an investigation.
