If Bill Conard added up all the miles he has run while training for marathons in the last few years, he could have already circled the Earth.
The 69-year-old Rock Hill resident ran track in high school. He has hiked and played soccer in the Andes. He has gone climbing in Mexico.
My knees are still OK, he joked.
And he has hiked nearly 14,000 feet toward the base of Mount Everest, the worlds highest mountain at 29,029 feet above sea level. Most mountain peaks in the United States are around 14,000 feet.
All because he loves a challenge and the work he feels he can do through God.
