A new insurance scheme that provides benefits until 70 years of age is to be launched granting another benefit for the Government Servants.
The Chairman of the Insurance Trust Fund Senaka Abeygunasekera said that the Government servants will be informed about the features of the scheme in order to seek their participation. Benefits are also expected to increase by increasing the premium by a small amount. Those who contribute for both schemes can use the life insurance as an investment for their old age.
Under the current system the Government Servants receive benefits only under the “Agra-hara” Insurance scheme. It was available only up to the age of retirement. Under the new scheme with the payment of a small premium the Government Servants will receiver benefits up to 70 years of age in addition to the “Agra-hara” Insurance. The scheme is to be launched soon.
