An elementary school bus overturned Tuesday morning in Davidson County, sending 31 students to hospitals, according to police and Davidson County Schools officials.
The wreck happened about 7:30 a.m. in the county's Midway community. School officials said Bus 340 was headed to Midway Elementary School, in the northern part of Davidson County, between Lexington and Winston-Salem. The bus was carrying 38 students and a driver.
According to several reports, the school bus flipped several times after being involved in a collision with a truck pulling a trailer.
Dwayne Condrey, assistant 911 director in Davidson County, told WGHP-TV of Greensboro that none of the injuries is thought to be serious.
Authorities said nine students were taken to Lexington Memorial Hospital, eight to Thomasville Medical Center, seven to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, and seven to Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
