A man who was last seen at his parents home May 7 has been declared missing, and Lexington County authorities are hoping someone can help his family find him.
John Henry Mayer, 43, of Skylark Lane, Chapin, is not one to stay out of touch with his family for weeks at a time, the sheriff's department said. They have entered him in the National Crime Information Center database as a missing person.
Mayers is 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighs 240 pounds. He has a scar from his left ear to his forehead and was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark blue pants.
Mayers' father said his son left home 9:30 a.m. May 7 to a crack rehabilitation program. He planned to hitchhike to the program.
Foot and helicopter searches have failed to turn up the missing man.
