A former State Law Enforcement Division agent has been ticketed for a wreck that killed a man in Pickens County last month.
The Greenville News reported Thursday that Justin Cheeks was fined $150 for driving left of the center line of the highway.
Authorities say Cheeks was driving a state-owned car on state Highway 183 near Easley in April when he collided head-on with a car driven by 61-year-old James Rhodes of Greenville.
Cheeks says he's sorry and was trying to avoid one wreck when he got into another. SLED Chief Reggie Lloyd says the 47-year-old agent violated agency policy prohibiting agents from driving SLED cars while not on duty.
Cheeks resigned after the wreck. He is scheduled to appear in court June 22.
