Two men have been arrested after an apparent drug deal led to a police chase and three-vehicle wreck.
Terrance Romont Miller, 36, was booked into the Alvin s. Glenn Detention Center on charges of failure to stop for a blue light, open container, driving under suspension and reckless driving, according to detention center records.
The incident began just after 8 p.m. at Monticello and Buckner roads, the Richland County Sheriff's Department said. That's when a drug suppression team witnessed two men in a Ford Fusion conduct an apparent drug transaction.
When they tried to stop the car, the driver, identified as Miller, led them on a chase that ended when it exited Interstate 20 around 8:30 p.m. and struck two other vehicles, the department said.
The car crashed into a Lexus and a Subaru, both of which were carrying a driver and a passenger, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said. The Fusion then hit a utility pole. The occupants of both the Fusion and the Lexus were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, Jones said.
