In chillingly similar incidents, Lexington County lost two young motorcycle riders Thursday.
Around 3:53 p.m., an 18-year-old man identified by coroner Harry Harman as Cody M. Kyzer, Batesburg-Leesville, was riding west on Convent Church Road.
For unknown reasons, Kyzer's Kawasaki went off the right side of the road on the 200 block and overturned, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said. Kyzer, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Lexington Medical Center but died from his injuries.
Around midnight, a 15-year-old Wagener boy whom Harman has not yet identified was riding a Yamaha motorcycle on S.C. 302 when he crashed.
The westbound motorcycle went off the right side of the highway and struck two mailboxes, Jones said. That rider, who also was wearing his helmet, died at the scene, Jones said.
