President Rajapaksa has said that the entire nation pays tribute to everyone who dedicated their services to keep the motherland happy. Addressing the nation at the Victory Day celebrations, the President said this dedication of the war heroes is everlasting and immortal.
The President said that civilians who lived in fear under trees are now living happily in their houses. This was mainly due to the dedication of the war heroes. He pointed out that the soldiers would be feeling that their dedication did not go waste when they witness how bridges, culverts, rail tracks, schools and hospitals are being rebuilt in addition to tanks and anicuts which are also being rebuilt and while gathas and prayers are being heard from the temples, kovils, mosques and churches that are also under reconstruction. Children who had cyanide capsules tied to their necks and weapons in their arms are going to school. The soldiers will be saturated by their dedications to liberate the country from terrorism. He pointed out that the tribute of the entire nation is for these soldiers.
With the rays of freedom rising in the North, the rays of development are dawning on the people in those areas. The President emphasized that public property will be rebuilt amidst pressure from foreign terrorist loyalists.
The President queried as to what the LTTE remnants abroad did in the past two years when the North and the East were being rebuilt. They were launching various unwarranted and baseless campaigns against Sri Lanka. They are still engaged in these campaigns. Although terrorism has been routed from Sri Lanka terrorists who are domiciled in other countries and their loyalists are continuously working to devastate this island. Terrorism in a country initially begins by shooting at the truth. Tigers even after the war started shooting at the truth. As a result conspiracies were being launched against the country’s brave soldiers and by penning false articles. The President recalled that the war heroes staged their operations with the weapon on one hand and the human rights charter on the other hand. They even gave their food parcel to the helpless civilians. After the terrorist leader was killed in the battle his parents were sheltered by the Government. The President emphasized that they waged a battle against a terrorist outfit which was considered ruthless and indomitable in the world based on the essence of traditions which are more than 2500 years. The President underlined that Sri Lanka was the only country which waged a battle against terrorism while dispatching food and medicine to the terrorists. He added that Sri Lanka is proud about when considering how conflicts were being suppressed in other countries.
