May 28, 2011 2:39:40 PM - thesundayleader.lk

Little Kindermunks and Kinder-Singers (children between the ages of 3 and 7) will perform at Muzikaaale on Sunday June 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the British School Auditorium.
Though relatively young in age, the Little Kindermunks and Kinder-Singers have showcased their talent in many public performances, including an award-winning show at the Sri Lanka Festival of Music, which is affiliated to the London Federation of Festivals.
At the Festival, the Kinder-Singers were the all-island winners in the musical choir category in their age group for two consecutive years. These young performers have also appeared as guest artists at other concerts, including those organised by their teacher Ruvini Hapugalle.
Presented by the students of Ruvini Hapugalle, Muzikaaale – an evening of instrumentals and vocals from Disney to Broadway – will feature some of best-loved musicals for both young and old: Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Snow White, Phantom of the Opera, Little Mermaid, My Fair Lady, and a selection of songs from Porgy and Bess by Gershwin. They will also be presenting songs from the Lion King in acapella form and the finale will be an Andrew Lloyd Webber instrumental and vocal medley.
Appealing to people of all ages, Muzikaaale will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday June 5, at the British School Auditorium, 63 Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1,000, 750, 500, 400, and 350 and can be purchased at The Commons on Flower Road. The chief guest at the event will be Mrs. Nirmali Wickremasinghe, Principal, Ladies’ College, Colombo. Ruvini Hapugalle is a private piano teacher with a 19 year practice teaching students ranging from beginners to diploma level. Her professional experience incorporates training at the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and the Royal Academy of Music, London. She has served as a Music Examiner at the Institute of Western Music and Speech (IWMS), Sri Lanka. Ruvini is a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM, Teachers) and Trinity College of Music, London (LTCL, Performers). She also holds a Bachelors degree in English (Honours) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and a postgraduate diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.
