President inaugurates Tissarama Sanghawasa
The living quarters of the Maha Sangha affiliated to the historic Kande Vihara in Aluthgama has been constructed in the S. Mahinda Himi Mawatha in Maradana. It was inaugurated this morning by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He unveiled the memorial plaque and the Sanghawasa amidst chanting of Seth Pirith. The three storied building constructed with personal donations made by Deshamanya Janaka Nanda Kumara provides facilities for around 40 Bhikkus. A number of books including ‘Pohoya Puranaya’ written by Ven. Arama Dhammatillake Thera were presented to the President. The President donated a Buddha statue to mark the occasion. Wheel chairs were donated to a number of disabled persons. Members of the Maha Sangha led by Chief Incumbent of the Aluthgama Kande Vihare, Chief Sangha Nayake of the Walallawita Korale in Bentara Ven. Batuwanhene Sri Buddharakkhitha Thera and a large number of devotees participated in the occasion.
