The North and the East are making the maximum contribution for the economic revival.
The people released from terrorism are becoming partners of the economic progress. The government has launched a programme to uplift people’s lives in the North and East and promote tourism and economic sectors. With this the people are enthusiastically participating in the economic activities. In 2009 the highest percentage of the Nominal Economy was recorded in the North. The Central Bank has revealed this value to be 14.1 percent. The East has made the second highest contribution to the Gross Domestic Product indicating the progress made in those areas. The Central Bank has expressed confidence that the rate of economic growth will increase up to 13 percent in the North and the East due to the growth of the Tourism Industry in the North Eastern areas.
