May 29, 2011 12:30:51 PM - itnnews.lk

Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that it is the present government which has allocated the highest sum of money towards development.

The Minister said that so far, carpeting was confined to the main roads. The President has now been able to widen and carpet the roads that come under the Provincial Councils. He said that 3 billion rupees has been spent on carpeting Provincial Council roads in the Kandy District. During the past 21 years this amount of capital was not spent in the Kandy District under any Provincial Council.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa expressed these views while inaugurating the rural road development work in Kandy District under the Central Provincial Council. Three hundred kilometres of road is being developed at the expenditure of 3 billion rupees. The work on the Ayurveda Road in Thurunu-savi-gama, Pallekele in the Kundasale Electorate was inaugurated. Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and Chief Minister of the Province Sarath Ekanayake also participated in the occasion.
