The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department seized video poker machines, beer and cigarettes Monday from a Norway grocery store.
Garricks' Grocery on Norway Road had nine illegal poker machines, the sheriff's department reported.
Undercover officers purchased beer in the store even though it did not have an alcohol license. And those officers observed an 18-year-old buying beer, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.
The owner was charged with the sale of beer without a license and having a minor in possession of beer. The store owner's wife was charged with possession of illegal poker machines and for selling beer by an unlicensed person.
The sheriff's department had received repeated complaints about the store, Ravenell said.
