Chairman of the National Insurance Trust Fund Senaka Abeygunasekera has revealed that Government’s intention to introduce a new Health Insurance Scheme for Journalists.
Mr. Abeygunasekera said only 1,200 rupees has to be paid annually as the premium for the Health Insurance Scheme for Journalists. 100,000 rupees is being paid annually as hospitalization fees and 300,000 rupees annually as surgery costs. The amount paid annually for spectacles is 3,000 rupees. 20,000 rupees is being paid as child births for female Journalists. 10,000 rupees is being paid for a normal child birth. A payment of 5,000 rupees is paid for treatment in Government hospitals. In case of death of a Journalist, they are entitled for life insurance of one million rupees. Mr. Abeygunasekera pointed out that under this insurance cover it is planned to provide this money to the dependants.
