A one-member Committee has been appointed to look into the violent clashes which erupted in the Katunayake Free Trade Zone yesterday. Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the task has been assigned to former Supreme Court Judge Mahanama Tillakaratne.
Speaking to the media today, the Minister disclosed that the Committee has been appointed at the behest of the President. This Committee has been instructed to submit its report to the President within a period of five days. Suitable action will be instituted against the individuals found guilty, through the information received in the report. The Media Minister pointed out that stated “if found through the report that the workers had been pressures in any manner, the Government will not hesitate to take strong decisions regarding them.
