Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that the sale of food through mobile trucks will be popularized. Its purpose is to encourage self employers to take up new ventures.
The Minister noted that various vehicles were being given to those who are engaged in self employment under the first stage. They could meet the needs of the people at their doorsteps. He revealed of plans to extend this programme to villages. It is also planned to meet the services of the cultivators and even supply fertilizer to them at their door steps.
The Minister was speaking at the handing over of mini trucks to 60 self employers of the Gampaha District. The function was held at Kadawata. The People’s Bank is providing financial assistance. It is planned to provide such trucks to 250 more self employers in the Gampaha District. Deputy Ministers Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Dulip Wijesekera were present.
