Immediate action is being taken to resolve problems related to lands in the North and East with were forcibly acquired during the LTTE terrorism period.
A special discussion in this respect was held at the Ottamavadi Divisional Secretariat in Batticlaoa. Agreement was reached to find solutions within a week particularly in relation to lands coming under the Kiran Divisional Secretariat Division. Entire civilian life in the North and East was paralyzed due to terrorist activities throughout 30 years the LTTE had forcibly acquired lands and houses of the people as well as public property. The discussion dealt on solving the land issues in the Kiran area under the accelerated programme of returning lands and houses to the people who had lost them. Among those who attended this discussion were Batticaloa District Secretary Sundaram Arumainayagam and Eastern Army Commanding Officer Brigadier Boniface Perera.
