A man who robbed a northeast Columbia motel clerk at gunpoint on Thursday, June 2nd, is being sought by the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect, who pretended to be interested in a room at the Comfort Inn and Suites on 1540 Daulton Drive, produced a black revolver and demanded all the money from the cash register, the sheriff's department said. The clerk handed over the money and the man fled.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5-foot-9 with slim build, weighing about 150 pounds, wearing a with baggy t-shirt, black gym shorts, a dark bandana around his neck and black shoes.
The sheriff's department said the motel is near another crime scene where a pizza restaurant employee was shot and killed early Friday morning at 10008 Two Notch Road. Authorities are trying to determine if the two crimes were related.
