Eight hundred and sixty six more former LTTE cadres have been re-absorbed into the society.
Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera said that all former tiger cadres who are under rehabilitation will be handed back to their relatives by this December. He said that the President has instructed them to release all those who are being rehabilitated by this December and he will fulfil this responsibility as the Minister in charge. Another batch of former LTTE cadres who surrendered to the security forces in the final phase of the humanitarian operation went home today with their relatives. A function in this connection was held at the Vavuniya Cultural Centre. Ministers Dallas Alahapperuma and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa also participated in the occasion. The youths had undergone training in various vocations under the special supervision of the army at the rehabilitation centres in Vavuniya. It was a notable feature that they were provided free transport to return to their homes. Secretary to the Ministry A. Dissanayake, Commissioner General of rehabilitation Sudantha Ranasinghe and GA of Vavuniya P.S.M. Charles also participated in the occasion.
