People have been paying homage to the relics of the Buddha placed at the Vidyodaya Pirivena after being brought from the Gandhara region in Pakistan.
The relics were brought to the country on a request made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa from the Pakistani president. The relics were placed at the Vidyodaya Pirivena in Colombo under the patronage of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Ministers and Parliamentarians. The exposition was inaugurated on the second day today by Minister Bandula Gunawardena and ITN Chairman Rosmond Senaratne. A large number of people are arriving at the Vidyodaya Pirivena to pay homage to the relics. The exposition will be held tomorrow on public request.
