The Health Ministry has said that the highest number of dengue cases have been reported from the Dehiwela area in the Colombo District.
Health Ministry Spokesperson W.M.D. Wanninayake has said that between 75-100 dengue cases are reported from the Dehiwela area daily.
According to Wanninayake, houses, schools, private and state institutions in the Dehiwala area are currently been inspected for mosquito breeding grounds under the dengue eradication programme.
The programme initiated by the Health Ministry is to continue till June 10.
Health Ministry statistics state that approximately 6,720 cases and 60 dengue related deaths have been reported since the beginning of the year.
The highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Colombo District with 2,257 patients and 22 deaths.
