Kegalla Motor Traffic Plan to be amended

Amendments are to be effected to New Kegalle Traffic Plan taking into consideration about the problems encountered by the public.

 

A new motor traffic plan was unveiled from the 20th of last month in the Kegalle town along the Colombo – Kandy main highway as a solution to ease road congestion. The plan was crafted by the Kegalle Urban Council and the Motor Traffic Division of the Kegalle Police. The Sabaragamuwa Road Passenger Transport Authority and the Kegalle Business community have intimated to the District Coordinating Committee that many issues had surfaced with the implementation of the new plan.

A special discussion in this respect was held with the participation of Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath. Agreement was reached to effect amendments to the Motor Traffic Plan directing attention to alternate proposals submitted by the business community and officials of the Transport Authority. Minister Siyambalapitiya told at the discussion that work on an alternate road will be speeded up finding permanent solutions to congestion. Parliamentarian Kanaka Herath was present.
