A petition against the Darusman Report and with one million signatures has been handed over to the UN office in Colombo.
People of the North as well as East considering as one nation sans caste, religious or other differences have placed their signatures on this petition. A group including the Veddah Deputy Leader Uruwarige Punchi Bandala Atho was present when the petition was handed over today. Senior Coordinating Advisor at the Colombo UN office Tom Haukley received the petition from the delegation. Minister C.B. Ratnayake said he wish to express his gratitude to every one who joined in meeting responsibilities as Sri Lankan citizens.
The Minister said as the armed forces and the police granted freedom to the country, as citizens of Sri Lanka, they expressed their protest to the challenges to safeguard the freedom that the country now enjoys.
