A metal working firm based in Michigan is investing $2 million in a new facility that will bring 50 jobs to Pickens County.
Gov. Nikki Haley and the South Carolina Department of Commerce announced Tuesday that VCI-SC Inc. would be setting up a metal parts manufacturing and design facility.
The BMW supplier does metal work for aerospace, energy and military clients. President Gene Harrison says the move will allow VCI to work in closer proximity to its customers and expand its South Carolina presence.
Officials say the Sturgis, Mich., company will begin hiring for the new positions later this month. VCI-SC is filling design, welding, machine set-up, programming and fixture building jobs.
