Hilton Head officer struck in confrontation

A Hilton Head Island security guard has been hit in the leg by a sports utility vehicle during a confrontation.
The Island Packet reported that a Hilton Head Plantation security officer shot at the SUV to try to protect the other officer.
Eighteen-year-old Philip Maximilian Natoli of Hilton Head Island has been charged with aggravated assault and battery and failure to stop for police.
.Plantation general manager Peter Kristian says an officer noticed someone driving erratically around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday and approached the vehicle. A second security officer was in front of the SUV when the driver started forward and Sgt. Ed Sutton fired into the vehicle, which slowed but did hit the second officer, who was not seriously injured.
It wasn't clear if Natoli has an attorney.
