New Sri Lankan diplomats tour North

Jun 9, 2011 11:56:35 AM - itnnews.lk

The new diplomats appointed by Sri Lanka to other countries visit the North to see the situation prevailing there before they take up their duties.

The diplomats during their visit to the North engaged in a study on the development taking place in the area. On their arrival at the LTTE Rehabilitation Centre at Punthottam in Vavuniya, they were warmly greeted by Rehabilitation Commissioner General, Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe. He briefed the Diplomats on the relief granted to nearly 11,000 LTTE ex-combatants who gave themselves up to the Army and on the programme mooted to re-integrate them to society. The new diplomats who highly appreciated the re-integration of former LTTE cadres into society after rehabilitation announced that they would pass on the genuine information in this respect to the international community.
