Meanwhile attention has been drawn to the introduction of environment-friendly gutters. At a discussion at the Ministry, it was decided to brief next week, industrialists dealing with gutters. Such measures are being taken as some gutters have become breeding locations of the dengue mosquito. Entomologists pointed out at this meeting gutters of some flats cannot be cleaned as it is impossible to climb the roof. Accordingly it was agreed to launch a special programme through Local Bodies to direct attention to this matter when approving construction plans of houses and institutions.
