The Northerners embark on a Pada Yathra in view of the Kataragama pilgrimage season. Our correspondents said that a large number of devotees from areas of the North and the East are already towards Kataragama.
Pada Yathra is a tradition of the people of the North and the East. They are being able to engage in this journey due to the tranquil conditions prevailing in the country. Many Hindu devotees from Mutur in Batticaloa have also embarked on this traditional Pada Yathra. They are due to reach Kataragama, after about a two month journey.
