Special trains and buses will operate to cater to the needs of the devotees during Poson. Transport Secretary Dhammika Perera said that several progrmmes will be in place for the safety of the passengers.
The Ministry Secretary said that they are ready to operate special trains and buses from the 13th to the 17th. The Railway Department will operate 52 trips to Anuradhapura from every part of the country and from there to Mihintale. He said more additional services are also on the cards
42 additional buses will operate from many Depots countrywide. The number of additional buses to operate between Anuradhapura and Mihintale is 30. The Transport Secretary said that buses will operate from various parts of the country to Anuradhapura and Mihintale. Bus services will also operate to cater to the needs of devotees visiting sacred places of worship including Bellanwila, Kelaniya, Kalutara, Kanday, Gadaladeniya, Aluvihare in Matale and Mahiyangana. Special trains will also run.
At a news conference at the Transport Ministry, it was emphasized that trains from several locations will run to Anuradhapura and Mihintale.
