The first stage of the Leadership Training Course draws to an end tomorrow with the appreciation of the new University entrants who successfully faced all challenges and obstructions. They are upbeat about the programme and claim it has refreshed their lives.
A high response is being received for the Leadership Training and Attitudes Development Training Course organized for new University students to successfully face future challenges. It is a joint effort of the Higher Education Ministry and the Defence Ministry. The programme is being launched at the behest of the President. The first stage of this Leadership Training was launched on the 23rd of last month and progressed in 28 Centres. The training was a great success at all Centres. There was a high response from the new university entrants. These students who were hitherto restricted to books, were able to gain wide experience during the three-week training. These students called for an extension of this training.
Students also underwent leadership training at the Rantembe Cadet Corps Training Centre. Officials of the Centre said that the students gained experience in discharging their work on their own, surmounting the challenges they faced.
In the meantime, about 850 new University dtudents joined in the leadership training launched at the Army Camp in Trincomalee. A programme to improve their artistic talents was also launched recently. A special musical show was organized. A notable feature was the participation of members of the Army. Eastern Commander Major General Boniface Perera also participated in this occasion.
