President Rajapaksa visited Parliament this afternoon.
The President arrived at the Parliamentary Complex at Sri Jayawardenepura this afternoon while proceedings were in progress. Senior Minister P. Dayaratne was moving a Vote of Condolence on the death of former Parliamentarian Nissanka Wijeratne. Government as well as Opposition members got up from their seats and greeted the President. He then took a seat in the House and listened to the debate on the Vote of Condolence.
The President attends Parliamentary Sessions once in three months, according to the 18th Constitutional Amendment, respecting the sovereignty of the people.
