Minister Maithripala Sirisena has called on the parents to destroy mosquito breeding places in schools.
A recent survey has revealed that there are mosquito breeding places and potential places where larvae can thrive in 75% of the schools in the country. Participating in a special mosquito eradication programme held in Jawatta yesterday the Minister said that it is the responsibility of parents to protect their children from Dengue. The Minister said that it is a serious problem that households and private organizations do not fulfill their responsibility in this connection. He requested everyone to clean the houses where they live and the buildings, factories and garages where they work. A number of programmes including distribution of Handbills, fumigation and spraying of Malathion liquid were held. Several members of the security forces also participated.
