Another Mega Development Project kicks off the ground. Work has been launched on the Greater Colombo Water Rehabilitation Scheme. The launch took place at the National Water Supply and Drainage Board Office at Maligakanda. The Chief Guest was Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Financial assistance is coming from Japan. The water capacity of the Colombo City will be enhanced in addition to improving water storage facilities. The Rehabilitation is also aimed at improving the capabilities of providing new supplies.
A new tank will be built to replace the old underground tank which is located at Eli House. A new water tank will be built at Maligakanda in addition to laying new pipes. The Rehabilitation Scheme also includes improvements to the old underground pipe network. Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie and Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala were present on the occasion.
