CTU Doubtful About Ministry’s Programme

Jun 14, 2011 9:30:27 PM - thesundayleader.lk

The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) has expressed concerns over the Education Ministry reaching its targets in the programme to develop secondary schools.

The CTU has stated that the programme would not be successful unless the Education Ministry removes the primary sections of many of the popular national schools in the country.

General Secretary of the CTU, Joseph Stalin has explained that the government while aiming to develop 1,000 schools to reduce the competition for popular schools is to continue with the primary sections of all leading schools in the country.

He has stated that the government was also looking at developing only 1,000 schools, which is 10 percent of the total schools in the country.
